Nobody does style like Singapore does style.
Chic accommodation shouldn’t be limited to flashy hotels and expensive resorts. Backpackers are no longer averse to splashing out a little here and there – and it’s all part of the Singaporean experience after all.
These hostels I’ve researched all come highly recommended by their guests, are polished and crisp by design, are dotted around Singapore’s most hip suburbs and are within walking distance to the subway MRT, so you can easily travel all over the island. If you like culture, cheap food and bartering, try Chinatown and Little India. Want flash shopping malls? Stay in the Business district or Downtown in the heart of Singapore. Any of these hostels will make your trip to Singapore extraordinary.

Chinatown - Adler Hostel
Housing a rather classy common room, this luxuriously styled hostel is exactly what you need to escape the fiery temperatures and bustling streets of Chinatown. Adler Hostel boasts private dorm pods, individual power points and fluffy down duvets. Style meets comfort meets value at its very best.

Chinatown - Bohemian Chic Hostel
With its central location and nearby MRT station, Bohemian Chic is a modern hub from which to explore Singapore. Colourful and a wee bit eccentric, this hostel offers its guests plenty of privacy with curtained dorm beds – a welcome trait when you’ve just stepped off a long-haul flight!

Arab Quarter - Five Stones
I’ve stayed here personally and it remains one of my favourite hostels in Southeast Asia. The girls who staff it are sweet and helpful, a breakfast spread of sweet cereals a welcome boost to the day and I always felt safe, even when venturing out at night. With its location right on the edge of the Arab quarter, authentic food is easy to find right around the corner.

Little India - Footprints Hostel
Little India is a fascinating district of Singapore to stay in – and it’s here that I found some of the city’s best and cheapest dishes. Footprints is almost a veteran hostel in Singapore, and has a few awards under its belt to boot.

Downtown - MET A space pod
This hostel is fantastically modern, think individual monitors for each pod and high speed internet. The beds are spacious, they provide a free breakfast and offer ticket booking services to make your trip a breeze.

Downtown - The Port by Quarters
The Port is stunningly located at Boat Quay, a hub of activity, local food and vibrant nightlife. If the heart of Singapore is where you want to stay, then this hostel is what you want.

Downtown - Wink
You’ll find more character here than at most Singapore hostels. Wink is the brain child of two seasoned travellers, who turned their combined experiences into one of Singapore’s top rated hostels. Regardless of what you seek in Singapore, the friendly owners will help you find it.

Business District - Dream Lodge
Situated in a 1950’s shop house, Dream Lodge offers cosy beds, high security, a varied complimentary breakfast and is one of Hostel World’s top rated hostels for Singapore.

Polished and modern, The Pod is self-indulgence personified. If you’re looking for somewhere to rest between long haul flights, this hostel has you covered. Just check out the rest of their photos!

Residential district - Coziee
One of Singapore’s best value hostels, Coziee is located in the central residential district of Kallang. The rooms are themed, brightly painted and welcoming, with all the usual amenities such as free breakfast, Wi-Fi and key card access.

Residential district - COO Boutique Hostel
Classy and upscale, COO is a modern backpacker hostel situated in the historical and cultural neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru, but its onsite bar and bistro is where the magic really happens
