New Zealand in January ‘16

We’re smack in the middle of summer here and the tourism industry is in full swing. I’ve been busy in the hospitality sector – something about having Christmas and summer in the same months always means New Zealand restaurants get crazy busy. I love this time of year, although it means I haven’t had much creative energy to spare for this blog between creating menus and overtime so posts have been short this month with a few throwbacks to past travels.
What happened in January: I had no plans to travel at all in January but still managed to visit lovely Mt Maunganui and spent many evenings out by the ocean in Taranaki.
What I’m doing in February: (Another) road trip (because I love them) up to Auckland to protest the signing of the TPP next week, and a stopover in Hobbiton on the way back down the North Island. I might throw in a couple of days at one of NZ’s popular beach towns while the weather is primo.
